- Real Life Superhero. Treesong is a Real Life Superhero from Carbondale, Illinois. His focus is on environmental issues, social justice, and personal empowerment and responsibility. The general Real Life Superhero talk describes what a Real Life Superhero is and how people can make a difference in their communities, with or without a special name and costume. Treesong also offers superhero-themed talks on specific topics such as Recycling, Personal Empowerment, Superheroes for Children, Superheroes for Young Adults, Green Jobs, Green Homes, Green Business, Green Communities, Green Living, and Climate Change.
- Revolution of One. This talk (or interactive workshop) based on Treesong's revolutionary self-help book will introduce you to a holistic approach to creating a better life for yourself, your community, and the Earth. Whether your focus is on personal empowerment or community activism, Treesong's concept of becoming a Revolution of One can help you to understand how to improve your life and change your community for the better.
- Introduction to Permaculture. Treesong is a Certified Permaculture Design Consultant. Learn about the basic principles and practices of permaculture and how they can empower you to live more ecologically, economically, efficiently, and enjoyably, all at the same time!
- Real Magic. Magic is the art of transforming consciousness at will. Learn the basic principles and practices of real magic, including how to achieve greater mental clarity, how to create positive change in your life, and how to stay sane and upbeat when the banality of your surroundings is dragging you down.
Qualifications and Experience
Treesong has spent the past fourteen years on a journey of personal development, community service, ecological defense, and political action. Here are just a few of the highlights of this journey:
- Ecological Advocacy. Treesong is best known for his commitment to ecological defense and green living. Over the years, he has participated in many local and national organizations such as SIUC's Student Environmental Center, the Cove Mallard Coalition, Earth First!, Friends of Bell Smith Springs, the Institute for Social Ecology, the Green Party, Southern Illinois Center for a Sustainable Future, and the Carbondale Climate Action Network.
- Radio Personality. Since 2001, Treesong has co-hosted a radio show called Your Community Spirit. This upbeat, humorous weekly program highlights community events, environmental news, and commentary on social and ecological issues of the day.
- Permaculture Studies. In 2006, Treesong received his certification as a Permaculture Design Consultant during the Earth Activist Training lead by Starhawk and Charles Williams.
- Institute for Social Ecology. In the summers of 2001 and 2002, Treesong attended the summer programs of the Institute of Social Ecology, including training in permaculture design, political theory, and community organizing strategies.
- Gaia House Interfaith Center. Treesong spent two semesters as a Program Assistant at the Gaia House Interfaith Center in Carbondale, Illinois in Fall of 2000 and Spring of 2001. He has been involved at the center in various volunteer and paid capacities since 1997. He currently provides the center with Information Technology Services.
- Barbara Brennan School of Healing. Treesong participated in the first year of the Professional Studies program at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. This experience empowered him to learn about personal process work and the relationship between personal healing and world service. - Big Muddy Independent Media Center. Treesong has spent the past several years involved in the Big Muddy IMC, a community media organization in Southern Illinois.
- Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. In 2000, Treesong received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. His focus was on ecological and political philosophy.
Event Prices
A standard 1-2 hour speaking event or workshop is $50 plus travel (25 cents/mile). The price of a several-hour workshop or retreat is negotiable and varies depending on the number of hours and participants. Non-profit and community organizations receive a 10% discount on all fees, including travel cost. If your non-profit or community event is in Carbondale, Illinois, Treesong will gladly speak free of charge.
