Heartland Bioneers is Coming!

The Southern Illinois Center for a Sustainable Future, along with many other campus & community partners, is proud to host the second Heartland
Bioneers Conference, October 14-16th.

A live satellite downlink of keynote speakers from the Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, California will be part of this regional event. Janine Benyus and David Orr - along with thirteen other renowned scientists and social entrepreneurs -will be featured speakers this year. The satellite sessions will be shown at the SIU Student Center Auditorium, local workshops and discussions will be offered, and evening activities along with a camping retreat will take place at Little Grassy Camp, bordering the Shawnee National Forest.

Workshops, discussions, and presentations for 2005 are still being determined, but last year's topics included socially responsible investing, permaculture, LEED standards, deep ecology, carbon mitigation and coal gasification, independent media, wilderness designation and recreation issues in the Shawnee National Forest, Cache River management, and a three-part Revolution of One seminar.

There will also be good food, great music, and lots of fun.
