We Are Winning

A chapter in Michael Moore's new book, "Dude, Where's My Country?", helped to remind me of something that I firmly believe:

WE ARE WINNING!

With Mr. Bush and his administration in power, with our social/economic/political institutions dominated by neo-fascism, with poverty and violence and oppression everywhere, it's easy to fall into defeatism. The most powerful Empire in history is on a rampage, attacking civil rights at home and whole nations abroad. How can we help but feel despair and rage at the sight of all of this?

But consider this: the Empire is falling, and the people are rising.

If the American Empire were really so powerful, it wouldn't NEED to wage wars of aggression in pursuit of resources. It wouldn't NEED to harass and spy on nonviolent community organizers. These are acts of desperation. It seems that even the most dogmatic neo-conservatives recognize that the Empire is at a crossroads - either expand to dominate the entire globe, or lose their place at the head of the table.

This is the mighty Empire that we fear - an overgrown playground bully shouting and pounding on things to frighten us all into forgetting our own power.

And then we have the movements for social and ecological sanity. Here we've got the opposite situation: tremendous power and development without the playground bully antics. Support for ecological living, universal health care, civil rights, workers' rights, women's rights, queer rights, and other worthwhile causes is growing. And it's not just support in principle; our practices are slowly but surely shifting as well. From urban gardens to millions marching for peace, it becomes clearer by the day that human consciousness in general is gearing up to liberate and heal the planet.

It almost brought tears to my eyes today to read a magazine article on urban gardening and realize that humanity is healing. All of these social and ecological issues are finding ways to support one another in the creation of a new society - a society of health, ecology, peace, justice, freedom, and more.

So next time you hear some terrible news about what Mr. Bush and others are doing, don't be lost in despair. Take a moment or three to feel that deep and soulful sorrow, but don't forget to use your love and realism as a foundation for positive action. Plant a garden, start a housing co-op, help a friend, play with a child, do anything that will heal and transform you, your community, and your society. Most of all, take heart - we are winning!

On that happy note, I'll take my own advice and do something positive...

The Six Million Dollar Treesong

"Treesong, anarchist, a man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him, we have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first Bionic Man. Treesong will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster.”

Yes, it's the Six Million Dollar Treesong!

Much like in the tale of the Six Million Dollar Man, I started my Warrior Healer journey lying torn and twisted in the wreckage of a terrible crash. After ten years of actively willing myself to die, I was a man barely alive.

Then, my activist pursuits breathed life back into me. I wanted to live again, if only to serve others. But I was still a wreck - longing to live, but not knowing how.

Then, my raw foods diet was like the IV placed in my arm to keep me alive. It boosted my energy levels, lifted my spirits, and empowered me to rise from the state of near death that I was lost in. But still, I was in a state of shock. Like the Six Million Dollar Man, I needed to be rebuilt.

Then came the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. My time there helped to lay the foundation for a new life - a life of healing, a life of joy, a life of abundance, a life of hope.

Now, my new low-carb live foods diet, with the help of the book Rainbow Green Live Foods Cuisine, has empowered me to begin the final stage of rebuilding. It has already cleared out some of the lingering traces of toxic thought, emotion, and physical congestion. Now, I can feel my health and vitality rebuilding itself from the cellular level on up.

Better. Stronger. Faster. I may still be in the final stages of the operation, but the Six Million Dollar Treesong is about ready to leap off of the table and show this world what a Warrior Healer can do!
